2,306 Prisoners in North Sumatra Receive Christmas Remission, 30 Direct Free People

Lensa Aktual. As many as 2,306 inmates in North Sumatra received the 2018 Christmas remission. The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, North Sumatra, said 30 people immediately took free air on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.

"Special Remission (RK I) totals 2,276 people and RK II (free) totals 30 people. The whole received remission of 2,306 people," Public Relations of the North Sumatra Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Regional Office Josua Ginting told reporters in Medan on Saturday morning. December 22, 2018.

Josua Ginting said that the length of the detention period was both RK I and RK II from 15 days to 60 days. He continued, he said that all remission statements would be submitted to residents assisted by recipients of Christmas remissions in prisons and detention centers in North Sumatra.

"Later each Head of UPT will give the Remission Decree to the assisted citizens," said Josua Ginting.

Ginting added that currently the assisted residents in Prisons and Detention Centers in North Sumatra were recorded until December 19, 2018, reaching 31,965 people.

With this, the status of the Prison and Detention Center in North Sumatra is still in a state of overcapacity. With the details of 21,857 male prisoners, there were 1,193 female prisoners and women.

"Then, there were 10,153 male prisoners and 516 female prisoners," said Josua Ginting.
